Tom Elkins Tom Elkins is one of the owners of  The Farmer's Market, located at 21st and Commercial and the new strip center at 28th Street and National Avenue.

James Justus, a resident of Sherman Heights is the owner and operator of James Automotive Service located at 22nd and Imperial.He is president of the Inner City Business Association. Mr. Justus has served as the Corporation’s Security Committee Chairman. He is also a member of the Southeastern San Diego Planning Committee, a Board member of the William J. Oakes Boys & Girls Club, and is active in other community groups. Mr. Justus currently serves as Vice President of this Corporation.

Kurt Krasne, a native San Diegan, is a property and business owner in the District. He is the managing partner of Triple K Manufacturing, located at 22nd and Commercial Street, since 1987.

Bob Leif moved to San Diego in 1993.  He obtained his Ph.D. in Chemistry from Caltech and has served on two University faculties.  He is now Research Director of a small, biotech company, which is developing cancer detection technology.    Bob assists the Bedford and Leif Group on technical and governmental matters.  The Bedford and Leif Group has properties on Commercial, National, Imperial Avenues, 25th St., and Main St.  He has organized two meetings on the application of the principles of smart growth to the redevelopment of the Central Village. Dr. Leif is also a board of Southeastern San Diego Planning Committee and is a member of the Urban Land Institute. Dr. Leif developed and maintains the Central Village web site.

Marshall A. Lewis (Secretary) is a business and estate planning attorney and is also the President of Corona Furniture Company, located at 3161 National Avenue, a business which his wife’s family founded. As the Secretary of this Corporation since its beginning, Mr. Lewis has been instrumental in getting our Corporation on proper footing and in arranging for the services to maintain the District.

Vincent H. Noto has been in business on Imperial Avenue since 1970. He is an experienced scientist, inventor, an artist and is an active advocate for solar energy and quality jobs in our neighborhood for our neighborhood residents. He is currently refurbishing a property on 19th Street. Mr. Noto is a board member and has served as Chairman of the Southeastern San Diego Planning Committee, which is the official community planning group for our area. He has served as Treasurer of our Corporation since its beginning.

Debbera Stecher Debbera Stecher was born in the District and owns rental property on Imperial Avenue.  She is retired from a long career as a zoo animal keeper, after-school string-instrument training program in our area, providing constructive skills for children without charge for instruments, instruction and performance opportunities.  She has led the research program to develop a historical tourism program for a part of our neighborhood, focusing on early minority business entrepreneurs.

Tod Swank Swank is the owner of 2001 Commercial Street since 1998.  He has been a San Diego resident since 1979 and an Earth resident since 1966.  Mr. Swank is Chairman of the Board’s Design Committee.

Consuelo Zuniga (President), a Commercial Street property owner, has been active for 15 years in organiza­tions and issues affecting the community, where her family goes back for 95 years. Ms. Zuniga was invol­ved in organizing a Neighborhood Watch for Commercial Street and Imperial Avenue, in establishing Con­cerned Citizens for Safe Neighborhoods, spearheaded the closure of Tony’s Liquor Store and the Welfare Office on 25th Street and Imperial and lobbying for the Police Station. She has been active in Volunteer in Po­licing (VIP) for 14 years and volunteers at the SDPD Community Relations Office located in Bay View Family Health Center. She is the fund raiser for Logan Heights Friends of the Library and is a founding member of the Logan Heights Historical Society. She has participated in Career Day at Our Lady’s School, Sherman Elementary and Memorial Academy. She sat on San Diego County’s Alcohol Board for four years and represented St. Anne’s and Our Lady of Guadalupe on the Catholic Diocese’s Social Justice Commission. She has been a volunteer organist at St. Anne’s since 1982. Ms. Zuniga has been President of our Corporation since its beginning.
