Summary of the April 20, 2009 Board Meeting

The Board of Directors met on April 20, 2009, to review cash flow and financial reports from the staff.  The Board ratified an endorsement by the Corporation of a grant request by the City Planning Department to CalTrans to fund a multi-modal transportation study of the National Avenue corridor in the District.  It was reported that the City of San Diego was in substantial arrears in disbursing the Corporation’s funds to replace funds already spent, some $50,000 in requests having been submitted without action or explanation since February 5th.  It was noted that the City had not responded to the Corporation’s request for audit confirmations to the Corporation’s independent auditor, so the audit would proceed without the confirmation.

James Justus reported on a delay in the making of banners for the District, resulting in a change in contractors.  At his request, the Board endorsed the Soap Box Derby project in the District.  The Board reviewed and approved its insurance coverages and heard a report from its Executive Director on progress toward funding of the Corporation’s project to create Cesar E. Chavez Plaza at 25th and Imperial.

The next meeting of the Board will be held on Monday,  July 20, 2009, at the San Diego Police Station, 25th Street and Imperial Avenue, at 5:00 p.m.  Board meetings are open to the public.
